A cultural, economic and tourist event

On September Saturday 8^th and Sunday 9th'2012, Cancale will honour the most famous of his sailors and explorer Daniel de la Touche de la Revardière.

On March 19th'1612 three ships and several hundreds men left the la Houle harbour to create a settlement on the Maragnan isle in Brazil. On the spot, men set up the Saint Louis' fort in homage to the young king of France Louis XIII.

Four hundred years later, the small village is became a city of more than a million inhabitants. São Luís remembers itself his prestigious ancient time in commemorating the city founding by a handful of French drown in wishful thinking.

In Cancale, this day will be a cultural, economic and tourist event. While la Houle harbour will live at the hour Brazilian time... São Luís will celebrate its French origins.

Realized jointly between Cancale and São Luís, the festivities will take place in partnership with its Excellence the ambassador of Brazil, the regional council of Brittany, the General Council of Ille-et-Vilaine, the community of municipality and the Regional Cultural Affairs Directorate.
